I have never messed much with guitar or speaker cables, usually just bought something middle of the road and moved on, fixed a few on occassion though ... I need a couple of 10' guitar chords for my practice area, so I am going to cut a 20' in half and install a couple 90's on the end of the cuts .. any recommendations as to a source/brand for reasonable priced right angle plugs? thank you

Radio shack, they are cheap and as good as any other
Cheap, yes...

As good as a Neutrik though? OK a Neutrik costs at least double, but is easier to assemble, has better strain relief & is of higher quality overall.

Would cutting a chord in half mean only fingering half as many notes?

Much easier to cut a cord or cable.

And yes, the more expensive connectors are worthwhile. But using proper technique in preparing the cable ends, soldering correctly and selecting a connector with some kind of strain relief is also very important.
