1 volume control vs 2

I'd like to understand the pros/cons between the two following setups on a bass with excellent pickups.
1. One dedicated tone pot/pickup and 1 volume control

2. One dedicated tone pot and 1 volume control/pickup (ie, 2 tone pots and 2 volume controls).

Would number 2 be preferable as it could provide more volume?

Not more volume, just better control and balance between the 2 pups.

I prefer my bridge PUP all the way up, and my neck PUP turned down a tad. I think the string vibrates stronger over the neck PUP so being able to make adjustments helps with balance.

I also dig a three position toggle switch for fast soloing of a PUP without having to mess with a volume knob.

I wont own a single master volume bass. These give zero ability to get variations of pup blending other then each pup solo and both pups fully on. I prefer vol vol, over blend and volume as this gives a little more ability to dial in desired amounts of blend. But volume and blend isnt a deal breaker. For tone control I prefer active 2 or 3 band eq.

I like seperate volume controls, again for the ability to mix and match. Some people like a single volume control so they can quickly adjust their overall volume, I may be somewhat old school but I just keep my volume all the way up and play softer with my hands when needed. There's lot's of other reasons for these preferences, when you're dealing with series/parallel/coil-tapping and more complex electronics the game changes quite a bit.

I prefer Vol/Blend setup. Typically my Volume is wide open and I vary tones with the blend pot.
