$10 refinish job

Yep, I refinished a bass for less than $10 bucks. An old Yamaha I bought locally for $120. Played great, sounded great. Beat all to hell (pics don't do it justice), and I hated the greenish color.
Before pics:

I removed the hardware, neck and electronics. Sanded the body just to rough it up. About 4 coats of spray paint. Let it dry 2 days. Light fine sanding. Reassembled everything, done.

Really happy with the results. I've been playing it about a week, the paint it holding up great.

Kidding, of course. While I find teal to be an underappreciated color, it’s hard to go wrong with black…doubly so if it matches the headstock!

You should put a clear on it though. Or, you'll be doing it again very soon.

I will after it wears some. I've already got it back together, the dis/re assembly took longer than the paint job. And I don't gig a 5 so it'll mostly hang on my music room wall.

Clear coats are where things go wrong quickly so if you're happy as is, stay that way.

That teal was pretty awful.

We had one where I grew up, you had to have everything masked and ready to go or they would paint everything down to the glass and the tires.
