I wouldn't have Peter Hook in twice (#77 & #78).
Who would I sub back in for one of them?
Maybe Phil Lynott?

That's a good shout! Although it turns out to be a typo #78 ...there's actually another #78 already in the list in the shape of that old slapper, Mr King!

I also found some of the "lineage" comments ringing very true e.g. John Entwistle's impact on the style and tone of Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Billy Sheehan - you can totally hear it in some of their bass lines!

I would also have liked to see Danny Thompson (Pentangle) in there, and maybe a bit more classical representation, perhaps Bottesini or Zimmerman (F.).

I love the quote from Peter Hook in the introduction. However, I still don't think that merits putting him in a tie with Mark King.

If they had also published their #101-200, I would've loved to have seen where certain other players ranked, particularly Rick Danko, George Mraz, Jerry Scheff, Tina Weymouth and Bill Wyman.

Never heard of him, until now. Reminds me of one of my all-time favourite guitar players Michael Hedges - maybe not in execution but in thought process. Thankfully very light on the 'million-ghosts-per-second' stuff. Thanks for the heads-up...

He doesn't sound like anyone else I've heard. He plays drums to the same level.

If this is the list I think it is where’s John Wetton? His work with King Crimson puts him firmly as one of my top rock bassists of all time.

If this list is supposed to put together the bass players who have had the most influence, I find it well done. And the order doesn't matter. I think we can all name at least five who are responsible for who we are as musicians today.

Agreed.....and honestly I don't think there has ever been a "100 Greatest" list of anything that everyone has agreed on

But I still think if your going to put Cliff Burton in there, you got to put Robert Trujillo somewhere on the list
