Wouldn't be practical. YMMV.

Ashdown has a bit of a cool factor, but I'd wonder if your practical sweet spot might be with a 100W combo from usual bass amp suspects Gallien Krueger, Ampeg, Acoustic, etc. That head/cabinet design seems like more of a novelty, IMO.
I have a Mesa Walkabout and a Ampeg SVT-410HE in my bedroom for practice...overkill no?

But really, you could have 1000 watts for bedroom practice, just turn it as loud as you like and roll with it. To me its get the gear you want. So you want a Ampeg SVT-810 and a SVT-CL for bedroom practice, fine by me. Your money, your rig, your choice.
I agree wholeheartedly. I agree so much that I'm going to get one of those new little Ampeg BA108's for $100...25w, single 8"...got this little Sunday gig I could actually use it on, playing upright in a ltitle restaurant where all I need is to get a little bit louder than the upright itself. I wouldn't get one if I didn't already have amps 100w and over, but it's a nice little addition. The recommendation for a 100W amp is probably correct, especially if you are only going to buy one amp.
But I have to disagree with those who say there is absolutely no use for a small bedroom amp. I bought a Crate B10XL 10W amp for use in a dorm when I was in college, and it was perfect.
