Another vote for the Wizzy. It sounds great, a little bump around 60 hz that I take out with the clarus low cut filter. It's fairly inexpensive, light weight, effecient and sounds awsome with the electric.

Double Bass 112 cabinets

OK, I've just puchased a Bergantino HT112(yes, with the horn) to compliment my new Clarus. I also tried the EA cxl110 and cxl112 and the Bergie EX112. Unfortunately I don't have any loud gigs for a few weeks, but I'm diggin' it so far. It's obviously not as light as the GK combo, but it has way more headroom. I'll post more as I use it. Thanks for all the imput from everyone.

So I've been playing all kinds of gigs with the ClarusIII/Bergantino HT112 combo and let me tell you it rocks! It's not as light as the GK, but there really is NO comparison soundwise. The bass sounds warm and full, not quite MBOL but not unnatural and it really lets me drive the band. The bass is a NS Cleveland laminated, with a new Realist and Superflexables. I've got the string height up a bit and I can get a really nice, warm, oldschool sound from this set-up, but it still has that steel string clarity if I need it. It's also very low maintainance. I think I'm done searching for awhile.

I've been delighted with the Clarus/Berg 12 combination too. With my bass and and pickup, both of which are on the bright side, I prefer the EX112 over the HT, though if I used the Berg a lot with electric bass I'd go with the HT. I keep the GK around for schlepping on the subway or gigs in somebody's house where you only need a tiny bit of oomph, but for everything else it stays home.

My Acme Low-B1s just came in today, and I am absolutely amazed at how good they sound with my Clarus. So flat and crisp. I'm listening to a record through them right now, and it's incredibly beautiful sounding (Joni Mitchell - Travelogue). They have a wonderfully solid fundamental even on the low B. You should really check them out !
I'm using two CXL112's with a Fender bassman 135 (100watt all tube) head, and it's the best sounding rig I have ever used for DB. The EA's bring out the most from the Bassman, and my DB!
IMO a good sounding, very light, 4 ohm 1x10 is the Ampeg Portabass. It's a 4 ohm sealed cabinet. They go for pretty cheap on Ebay. I think I bought mine for $125.

Having recently picked up a Glockenklang Space Deluxe (1x12 with tweeter), I can emphatically add it to my list of top 1x12's. I haven't done any head to head A/B comparisons yet, but this cab seems to do it all. Very clear/articulate, tonally well balanced, plenty of lows, fairly light (to me, at least).
Mine is the German version, and I guess these aren't that easy to find, but dang, does it soud good!
