Anyone got experience with/opinions about 12 string basses? I have seen MusicVox still makes them but I have not seen any prices. When I go to a company web site and see their products but don't see their prices, it always makes me very cautious.

IIRC the Musicvox site used to have prices. It has nothing now, there's mention of a new website coming. Does not inspire confidence, but may just be a brief hiccup. I remember them being significantly more expensive than the Dean Rhapsody 12 I ended up buying. Also they look upside down.

The Dean was affordable, at the time Guitar Center's web site had the lowest price for a new one and I had a coupon on top of that. Can't remember the total. Sounds pretty good, not as amazing as the classic Cheap Trick or Pearl Jam studio tones everybody wants to sound like. Neck is super wide for my hands which are more at home on short scale 4 strings. That's par for the course on a 12 string though. Unlike the other available 12 strings, the Dean has 24 frets. I thought it may be easier for my Hobbit proportions to tune down and use a capo to shorten the scale. Haven't actually tried that yet. Didn't want to try that on a 20 fret bass.
