130$ for a Cort Curbow 4 ?

cool deal!! i got a deal on a used red one a while back. loved it so much I found a blue one for cheap also and had to pick it up!

i love the playability and small body. i really like the tone but the preamp on both of mine hisses if you turn the treble up too high. (not a big deal through my big amp since it doesn't have a horn...but practice at home or with headphones the hiss is kind of annoying).

also, like most people say, trying to play it sitting down isn't a great deal of fun. it's definitely not UNPLAYABLE sitting down, but it can be a little uncomfortable.

clean it up and hopefully you'll like it as much as i like mine! i gig with my blue one every weekend :bassist: :p

to elaborate a little more....

the bass CAN have a sort of "hi-fi" sound to it depending on your settings. my gigging rig has a lot of mids and not a ton of highs, so combined with the curbow it works great in a cover band/rock setting. my practice amp has a (crappy) horn and subdued mids and i have a hard time getting ANY active bass to sound like i'd like it to.

it kind of sucks that it only has one pickup, but the pickup is very good IMO. With a little EQ i think you could find a tone for any style of music with it.

Does yours nhave the barts or mighty mite pups & eq? The barts is the better one. The curbows can be very good basses. A few companies have made luthite body basses that had varying amounts of success. BC Rich (clear and see thru colors), Ibanez ergodyne something or other, as the two main ones that come to mind for some stuff Ive liked.

Looks like there might be a word in the bottom corner of the pickup. That might be a clue as to what kind of pickup it is. I can't tell from your pictures, they are small and clicking on them just makes them smaller.

I've owned 3 Cort Curbows, a 4, 5, and 6 string. Really liked all of them. One had Bartolini MK-1 electronics, one had Mighty Mite, and one had been changed to EMG. I liked the Mighty Mite better than the Bartolini. Bear in mind this is not the US Bartolini you find in expensive basses, the MK is imported, low cost stuff in the same category as "Duncan Designed" or "Select by EMG."
