15” Neo Speaker ID help? Also: Polyester Report

A long shot, maybe: Can anyone identify the brand and model of this 15”, 8ohm, 400w speaker?

There are two of them in my Schroeder 1515L. I’m perfectly happy with them; I just had one of then out while i was stapling polyfil batting inside the enclosure, and got curious after noticing that there is no brand or model info anywhere on the speaker.

As for the polyester batting: It made a very noticeable difference. The cab sounded very good before, but a bit harsh in the mids and slightly boomy in the bottom. It’s now smoother without being too polite, its rump is a little tighter, and the sound overall is clearer with overdrive and/or fuzz.

I am pretty sure that's a Celestion BN15-300X. Maybe made for OEM and un-badged??

Is your Schroeder 1515L one of the older models with no tweeter and one of the 15s facing sideways? That's what I have and I really like it because it's the size of a 1x15 cab, only weighs 40 lbs, is very efficient, can handle a lot of power, and has that old school tweeter-less thump.

Is your Schroeder 1515L one of the older models with no tweeter and one of the 15s facing sideways? That's what I have and I really like it because it's the size of a typical 1x15 cab, only weighs 40 lbs, is very efficient, can handle a lot of power, and has that old school tweeter-less thump.

It is indeed, though I keep it set up vertically so the angled 15” is facing down.

After lining the cab, some of that thump is coming through as punch (to further abuse some already horribly mistreated terms).

Also: Very efficient is right. This sucker gets loud; so much so that I’m surprised to see that Celestion’s specs for these Neo 15s put their sensitivity at 95dbs, which I associate with being on the less efficient side. I guess those figures all come with a grain of salt or two, though.

Perception also comes with a healthy dose of salt grains...
