They give you about half of what you can get on eBay. Of course, you don't have to worry about packing and shipping so it may be worth it to some people.
The only time i've ever traded stuff in is if it was worth less than a couple hundred bucks, anything more than that and it would be worth it to try and sell it in another way.
That's basically what I meant. They're going to give you pretty much nothing for your gear, even something good. Something worth $1000 expect to get around $400 trade-in value or $300 cash. It's a joke.
i found a 1x15 combo in the trash on the way to work one day. It was unicoil or something like that, pretty heavy, and sounded pretty bad. unicroil? I brought it to GC and traded it even steven for a PV minx listed for 250. You can get a minx for 100ish used, so I figure it was a good trade for all.

It's all true. They're running a bussiness, and the goal is making money, not giving you what your stuff is worth. Otoh, considering what you want to trade, it might just work out ok for you.
