I know watts aren't anything. Will 150w and 15" speaker be enough for loud band practice/small gigs?

150w 15" Powerful enough?

possibly, i once pulled it off with a 115 and a 400rb running at 8 ohms but you might want more headroom.
Wouldn't be enough for me, but we all play in different circumstances. The safe bet would be more power, and certainly more drivers.
not for a loud band. i guess thats an opinion. to me a loud band has at least one full marshall stack.
Back in the day I played a single Fender Rumble 100w 1x15 and it was enough to hold down some low end. Not enough to be substantial but enough to fill the gaps in a mix. If you're in a band who centers a lot of things around the bass lines, I'd be looking at getting at LEAST 300-350 watts. Maybe look into a new or used Hartke 3000 or 3500? Used ones can usually be had for pretty cheap. Then all you need is a cab which can also be cheap used if you look around. Good luck

That depends on the fifteen and the box it's loaded into. As a general rule it's not the size of the speaker that matters, it's the size of the cabinet. If you want to low and loud you've got to go big. You can go loud and small, but you'll give up low if you do.
i'm using a 200 watt 1x15 gk combo and barely holding up with 2 guitarist each with a half stack. if i were you, i'd go for something bigger, more watts and drivers.
I'd agree with this. You can never have too much as the rig can be turned down. Too little and there's nothing more you can do except over stress your gear and possibly destroy it.
my budget set up was a 120 watt tube head with an 115 cab, and it was enough for small shows, but my guitarist used a 50 watt combo and our drummer wasn't a super hard hitter he was more of a technical wizard
