As a guy who plays custom built boutique basses, I think that the argument that you get most of what makes a fodera special for the price of that sire. But I also agree that there are the little things that the player CAN feel in the spendier basses as well. Definitely diminishing returns, but value is in the hands of the beholder. All of my customs are under 7 pouds. I don't think I can call Sire and get that spec in this bass. That said, If I had less money and wanted that sound, this would be a serious consideration. At least something I would seek out to try myself. We are in an era where mass production is really getting VERY good basses out for much less money.
