Details

Label reads: "Made in Czecho Slovakia" (two words) and "Copy of Antonius Stradivarius"

Well, Antonius didn't make any basses, but it's likely that this bass is from a shop in what was later called Czechoslovakia, from the 1930's.

It is made with a spruce top and maple sides. The back has that slanted upper section and flat below.

The bass has a lengthy crack down the treble side of the top, and a new neck.
Both the top and the neck are professionally repaired, with no lingering issues anywhere on the bass.

It has a "D" neck with a healthy ebony fingerboard. Bridge has adjusters

Bass plays very easily and evenly.

Mature, clear sound throughout - with authoritative low end and cello-like upper register.

Currently strung with Tomastik Spirocore/orchestra strings.

Presently being played frequently on gigs. Arco response is truly lyrical.

Ideal for a student wishing to 'move up' or a pro looking for a work-a-day instrument

Prefer Los Angeles-area pickup, but will ship for an additional $400 within USA.

NYC, Inwood.
It looks like a decent bass at a good price. I'd suggest a few more pix: full length front, back, and sides.

Friends,
The iPhone is out of storage, and the camera's battery charger is missing.
Before all that failure, I managed to take

a couple of additional photos of the Czech.

The neck job was performed in L.A. by Peter Doubrowsky.
The work on the top was done by someone in another state, prior to my owning the bass.

(Note: I'd like to keep the bow quiver and the Underwood pickup.
Even without those pieces, the bass is still worth more than the $3,750 asking price, methinks.)

I'm very interested. I'm in the Santa Barbara area but I can come to LA when it is convenient for you.
