1953 Precision Bass

Seriously, one of the coolest basses I've ever seen/held/played. It's not 100% original, but the serious amount of mojo more than makes up for it !

Lately I've been taking a lot of guitar pics, paying special attention to the early "Blackguard" Fender instruments. I've started a "tribute" website to share some of these photos. IMO there just isn't enough proper photo documentation of these earliest Fender instruments.

Special thanks to the guys at Bass Emporium for letting me take a few pictures to document this fantastic instrument.

Well i just liked that it was played that much instead of a minty one, its just got a history to it. Sure if i were to buy one a would rather have a mint one but that would be more coin.

... KIDDING!! I've been drooling over the old single-coil P-basses for a while now so this one is really raising my eyebrows.

I notice the ebony bridge saddles. First time I've ever seen that. I assume the factory never actually did that? Looks like it could be fun to try, though.

There had better not be a minty '53 anywhere!! I've played a 54 3 tone burst at a shop in LA, and I pulled out some licks I've never played before. The more beat the more mojo!!. I just wish I could pay for one of those. "76 is as old as I got

Yeah, really... I mean seriously, what IS the big deal? This thing is trashed pretty badly.. How could seemingly intelligent people be so careless as to allow this poor old Pbass look like its been used to stir cornbread batter in one of those huge mixing bowls..

C'mon guys. Seriously I dig that bass -- I love vintage basses. But it seems a bunch of you like damage just for the looks (mojo). I dig the bass in spite of the damage not because of it. The idea of some dirty careless hippie dragging that thing around bars or whatever is not my idea of a romantic history.
