1961 Fender--Ebay--$32,000

This seller has his head up his butt.

His prices a doubled what the going prices are.

No justifacition, for this bass.

Yes it's a great old Jazz Bass.
But, $32,000.00. be real.

32 grand for a '61 stacker is trailblazin..we all know that...the guy is a piece of work ...and the fact he rapes guitars for parts to off on ebay is a disgrace...his prices are ******** , his attitude the same..I would suggest to him to remove his phone # on his ads...some people just love to kick the crap out of dicks, especially in LA..that being said the market is fallen fast and when this guy turns around his holly grail prices will reflect that....bet this guy drives a Porche and thinks its cool

HI

Ive sold him a couple basses. Ive found him to be nothing but stand up and very business like. He can ask whatever he likes for an instrument. In 10 years you'll be saying "should have bought that '61 jazz, man it was clean"

BTW, Porsche rules!!

Rob

BTW Porche is cool????..Maybe, if your 60 with a little tool and need of Viagra...lets all say Viva!!!!!!.....This ebay seller is a jerk, very evident..has a bad rep in the vintage circle... his prices are staggering...he rapes vintage guitars ...and anyone that continually makes statements about how much money he has is a real bonehead...Of course he was standup when he bought your basses,Im guessing he stole them from you while telling you how rich he was,lol.....simple advise...pass his ads up and simply move on..even the deep pocket buyers know what this guy is all about, evident why he sells on EBAY!!!!!!!!!

The ebay seller is no more of a jerk then the guy who started a question with "I wouldn't pay 32.50 for that bass". Look I don't ask the Bentley salesman for a test drive. I don't think their worth it, even if I had the money, but I wouldn't walk into the Bentley dealership and offer a guy 19,500 for one. Yes the sellers been a little rude, but a vast majority of the questioners, should be doing their shopping at the Guitar center Christmas shop.:rollno:

IMHO it's worth about 20-22,500. Stack knobs are really rare. I doubt their are 100 of them in close to that shape (if unrefinnished) on the planet. A Custom Color Pre CBS is a lot more common and I've seen more then one of them go for over 15K. It is the Holy Grail of collectable basses.

That seller consistently has the cleanest, most unusual closet-find instruments you can ask for. he manages to come up with some unbelievable stuff.

And he asks every penny the market will bear, and more. Because he can get it, he does.

Although I personally think his prices are insane, he sells the instruments. That means he is NOT above the market.

The definition of somethings' value is: what you can sell it for. He does just that, and in doing so helps to define the market.

Do I think his prices are rational? No. But he gets them. And every word I've heard about him from those who actually KNOW him - as opposed to shooting their opinions off on an internet forum - says he's businesslike and honest about what he sells.

And the emails on his auction are just noise - people expressing their frustration and wasting his time.

I'll repeat what I've said before: you'd have to be nuts to pay a premium price for something with so little intrinsic value with the economy appearing to head for the toilet.

And the fact that the seller dares you to make eye contact just adds to the entertainment.

Was in the original thread yesterday, although his replies were kinda unnecessary, people were wasting his time and I'd be pissed off too.
Going back to that link today, I wish him a horrible death. I also wish people would think before posting a link to here, those 'loser' pics wouldn't have been there without you...
