It will be worth the wait.. been using Quads since Jan '14... absolutely LOVE them !
I've got a couple days of travel coming up and I'm stoked to have my quads on that trip!

Hey folks. I'm getting ready to take the deep, deep plunge into IEMs. I'm pretty impressed with the reviews (and price!) of the 1964 ears. While I've been looking at the V3's, I'm also wondering if the Qi represents a significantly better sound for someone who's wallet is not bottomless? For that matter, is the V2 sufficient for a clear hearing of my bass line, separate from the drums, while also reproducing clear guitar, keys and voice?
If you can wait to save up for the quads, it will only be in your interest. If you can't wait, any of the models will be a great choice.

I suspect that I won't be able to swing the quads. Hoping the V3 will suffice. In that I both play and sing (a bit), I am assuming soft tips are the way to go to maintain a seal?

That's debatable.. you don't need soft tips for a seal.. that's what you get from the custom molds in the 1st place.
The challenge with the soft tips is that they harden over time. I did a lot of research before ordering (Qi's) and decided against them.
I have hard shell tips and over the last 18 months have not had a problem with seal - singing or not.
Yes, i play at church on a regular basis but i also play in a original band too. i have recently made the swing to IEM and cant believe the benifets. So i saved up a bit of money and got myself something decent. Quiet excited to get my hands on these bad boys...

It would definitely be worth the wait to hold off, save yer money, and get the Quads. Both Steve (S0c9), I, as well as several other here, can attest to that.
However, a few of the musicians at our church (all good players and good ears) have bought the V3s because they don't play much more than at church and don't want to make that big (to them) of an investment in something they use once a week or every two weeks.
In each case, they are very happy with them. Even a couple of drummers. So the V3s are certainly a viable option. These guys went from generic buds to V3s, so they did experience a substantial improvement.
My next set of IEMs, might be the V6 Stage models or the Adels. But I anticipate my Quads to last me another year or two and who knows what will be available by then.
Any chance an audiologist in the area has the demo set? You can also request a demo set, so something to consider. I went with the quads on the recommendations here and had the extra '$100 available, but if you can let your ears decide, give that a go.
So I just made my appointment for impressions and am ready (and nervous as hell) to pull the trigger. However, I can't decide between the Qi or the V6S. Has anyone done a side by side of these two models? I've seen a lot of reviews for each but not a direct comparison. I will be using these with my band obviously, practice and for casual listening as well. I play a little keys along with bass but no singing if that makes a difference.

I have a set of Quads and the latest A12s. The Quads are pretty great, especially for the price. I have never tried the V6 stage but my singer does own them and he is very happy with them. If the price difference is not a concern, I would spring for the V6 stage.

I've never had anyone ask me what was in my ears who wasn't a musician, so don't let color or design get in the way of what you want - get what you like. That color and design is badass!
Well I did it. Got my impressions done last week and put in my order about an hour ago. I played with a bunch of different designs and images (driving myself nuts in the process), but ended up going back to my original idea. I did have to invert the colors because the black background was actually hiding the outer ring, didn't notice that at first. Here is the Final Design. Final. I think.
Absolutely. You haven't actually tried them yet correct? And because it's a custom item personally fit to you they better be all that you hoped and more because the opportunity to flip a custom item without taking a pretty solid hit is pretty remote. So yeah, I completely get understand your queasiness. Until they are in hand and eventually in ear there is a whole lot of wait and hope to do.
I have spent big bucks (for me) sight unseen but always with the back posket advantage that I can turn that item around pretty quickly with limited to no loss. These aer different animals IMHO
I do hope they are awesome and beyonr yoru expectations because at that point life is good for you. And I look forward to your report on the entire experience.
