1964 Set List

An old band mate (the pianist) shared some photos with me from our 1964 band (I'm 15 years old and on drums). I thought some of you might be interested to peruse our set list from that time and take a tour down memory lane.

Wow. First off we're the same age, and second I know this isn't a band I was in but that trumpet player looks exactly like a guy that I was in a band with. It's eerie.

That is a great post. Thanks for sharing a stroll into the early '60's with us. JAVA!!!! Haven't played that in ages. Did it on guitar with a talkbox at a party once and got a standing ovation. It was surreal.

what immediately gets me is everyone is clean cut and cleanly dressed, and with regards to the handwritten set list, the cursive is textbook. Who can write that way these days?

So , how does that work ? You choose between the slow or the fast song ? Or you play one set first and then the other ?

While you play one song the leader reads the crowd and picks the next tune. Calls it and you GO.
Haha, we still do it that way. Actually this looks like a list of all their tunes rather than a specific gig set list.

my kid band had similar disparities (?) on our own tune lists, e.g., theme from a summer place vs. louie louie!
