The finish on that is to die for - may I ask - Sanding sealer? Urethane single stage or other? Enamel? Lacquer? Number of coats? Hand cut and buff?

Thinking of doing some custom Carvin kits eventually, have had auto painting experience but wood differs a bit, VERY curious as your results are MOST professional!!

Hey Pop...I used nitrocelluiose lacquer from the Guitar ReRanch
Nitro sand and sealer first than nitro primer.
The site and forum at ReRanch has all of the info and products that you need to finish those Carvins.
After clearcoating with McFaddens nitro I hung it up for 60 days to allow the lacquer to gas off and cure.

I wetsanded with grits starting at 800 and finishing at 2500.
after that I buffed out with finess it II and polished with perfect it...these are both 3m products..I've always had great results with those.Hope that helps a little.

Here's one I picked up from Craigs list and rebuilt...she was a problem child for sure.I got rid of the baritone switch and an aftermarket cut off switch.She's wired EBO now.

Thanks..this is an old thread but it's nice to recall the rebuild.
The ReRanch link shows more of the neck rebuild. I had to plane the neck down to remove the rotted wood and add new mahogany before reinstalling the original fret board and new truss rod.
I put in new frets and abalone dots.

Whenever I think of the past it brings back memories.
