Early 1966 Fender P bass with every bit of the Pre-CBS vibe at a much more manageable price. I am the 2nd owner of this bass and I believe that every piece of this bass is original (other than the case which crumbled years ago. Newer molded hard case is included and the price has been discounted accordingly) If any experts see something that stands out please message me. This bass is in great playing shape! Trussrod and bridge screws adjust more smoothly than most of my new basses have! The small vintage size frets have almost no fret wear as it has never had rounds on it. Every note frets cleanly with no dead spots. The strings are OLD (might be the originals) and sound perfect. Think Jamerson's dead strings. ***Edit*** I installed a new set of TI JF344 jazz flats yesterday and set it up accordingly. I didn't think it could sounds any better but the TIs sound and play like heaven on this bass. I will include the original Fender flats in the case. The neck is worn in nicely and has some finish worn off on the sides. Lots of checking and worn spots to the nitro finish but no structural damage. Neck is stamped 5 FEB 66 which corresponds with the pots dated the 8th week of 66. The ceramic disc capacitor is cracked but the tone pot functions just as it should. One pickup half has pencil makings but I can’t make them out. The pickup foam is rock hard. I don't believe that the pickguard was ever removed before I took it off for pictures. The cellulose acetate pickguard has a corner missing and has cracks around a couple screw holes and a crack near the pickup due to shrinkage. The pickguard is tight around the pickups. Weight is 9.2 lbs with the covers I bought this from the original owner and I have played and enjoyed it tons. $4500 shipped fully insured to the lower 48 US I will ship within 24 Hrs Paypal is fine I am happy to meet the buyer in person if you want to see it before buying. Feel free to message me with any questions I will respond quickly Not looking for trades at this price
64 was the last year for Brazilian fretboard, it looks like they're the original green tape flatwounds? ...
If only it wasn't in such good condition, I only want relics, LOL! Truly lovely bass from a great year for Fender. What kind of trade interests do you have?
Super sweet bass. My first was a used 65’. That’ll be gone like the wind. GLWTS. That’s all I got. STAY SAFE.
