1968 Fender Bassman 50

Hello, how much should one expect to pay for a 67/68 Fender Bassman head? I'm talking about one in above average condition in full working order. Thanks.

I paid about 550 for my 1969 Bassman head over ebay. It had been serviced, and had new tubes (they came separately packaged in their own box). It was also from a US dealer who was prepared to ship to Australia, as not all do.

Seemed about average, if not slightly higher than. Great head, as described. Don't know if the 67/68 is worth a bit more. Did they still do blackfaces then?

The one I'm looking at is a silverface. Not sure when they stopped making the blackfaces.

My guitarist and drummer's roomate (who's also a good friend of mine) has a Black Face that I play through every time I'm there. He uses it for guitar through a 212 Cordovox guitar cab as his practice set up in the living room (he has a Mesa triple rec for shows, I plug my bass in and it just sounds so wonderful). I fell in love with this amp! I had the oppertunity to pick up a closet classic black face with matching 215 cab for $500 locally, put it this way... I kick myself for not picking it up everytime I play my buddies. He payed a bit more ($750) for his head alone, and I seem to see them go in the $500 range quite often. I'm going to pick one of these up for a home practice head after I re-work my live rig and have some spare, spare scratch to throw down.

Let me add that I take the head down stairs (to where my band and his band practice (let's just say there's way to much awseome equipment to fiddle with in that basement) and plug it into my henry the 8x8 or Trynor 215 (even Marshal 1960a) and it sounds wonderful, albeit not enough power to produce any clean tones capable of keeping up with the band, but wonderful none the less.

My guitard has a 68' bandmaster in silver face, all I know is the the blackfaces are alot more expensive than the silver ones...

fender amps dont retain alot of value unless they're rare, so you might be able to get a great deal on one.
