One owner bass for 45 years until his recent passing. His name was Jonathan. He was a welder, and the kind of man who would do anything for you. He played it primarily in his church (and sing- alongs and kitchen parties along the way).
Just wanted to pay some respect to the man.
Judging by the wear on the frets (minimal) he used flats the life of the bass (see pictures of the flats taken off). Wearing rounds now. No divots in the fretboard. It's a B neck and weighs 9 lbs. 5 ounces. Body is one piece swamp ash (feel free to double check my grain assessment). No buckle rash. One small ding on the lower bout to the wood, and a few other regular imprints and wear that come with time around the edges...one by the thumb rest, and a noticeable line in the finish by the bridge (The covers were always on, so you'll notice the original red finish on either side of the bridge which to me is very cool). The usual age striations in the finish here and there. The volume control is like new (set and forget) but the tone control (which he would use all the time) is worn. I'm trying to be super picky here and notice everything.
Couple small dings on the back of the headstock, but none on the top of the headstock (like the usual cymbal hits on small stages). 3 small impressions on the neck by the 1st fret but none anywhere else. What's noticeable is where he wore away the finish on the neck. He played a lot in G, C, A, and D.
Under the hood the pots are 13776...they work smoothly. Notice the matching serial number on the back of the pick guard. Spent a few hours cleaning the body and neck, and oiling the board with Woca, bringing out some lovely grain. You'll be good for a couple years. My luthier put some back relief in to the neck and then a complete set up, so it plays perfectly and intonates on the money up the board. One thing, the E and D tuning keys are a little stiff. I took them apart and used key oil on them. So, maybe, 4 or 5 years down the road, they might have to be replaced. That should be mentioned as a heads up.

How does it sound? It's beautiful. That's my basic P bass player assessment.....and no, to my ear, dead spots on G or B on the 5th to 7th frets.
