1977 Fender Jazz Neck Question/Concerns

Damn that’s gorgeous I love how the headstocks tint darker than the fretboard

I had a fret job done a few years back.....the Luthier put a light satin finish back on fretboard vs the high gloss. The bass has had these old Bart pickups since the 80's, it sounds real good, just a bit darker and smoother than a typical jazz...less "snap". I would love to put something more period correct back on....any suggestions?

The original body looks great. I'd put that thing back together and only replace/upgrade missing parts -- keep it as original as possible.

Word. That’s definitely what I’m going to do! Tuners and pickups have been ordered for it

Update! The body and neck + most of the parts have arrived. Not sure what is caked on the body but most of it is coming off with some rubbing alcohol

What about a good microfiber towel and something less harsh like a regular polish...I would be afraid that rubbing alcohol may be to harsh?

I’ve been alternating lighter fluid and isopropyl. Probably just going to leave it alone it looks cool the way it is right now

Rubbing alchohol is probably too harsh, maybe buy some guitar polish. The late 70s basses are thick poly finishes so it won't hurt anything. Get yourself some microfiber cloths and dunlop cleaning kits and go nuts.
