1979 Ibanez MC-924 Modification

Hello

I just buy an Ibanez Musician MC-924 that needs some maintenance, the wiring on this bass is very basic and not versatile if we compare with later models, the controls are VOLUME, TONE, and 3 BAND EQ.

QUESTION: Does anybody knows to modify to VOLUME / BALANCE / EQ instead of VOLUME / TONE / EQ

If you want balance/blend control, you’ll need a new pot. There are different types of blend pots, I suggest you search around here a bit and read about it. If I remember correctly, the MN blend knob works better (but I could be wrong, and there’s always pros and cons to each design). To wire them up, look for a VBT Jazz diagram (and skip the tone knob).

You should be able to easily convert the tone knob into the second volume knob. For that, look for the VVT Jazz diagram (and skip the tone knob).

that said, your bass should have a pickup selector switch, no? Is that not versatile enough?
