For sale 1990 Oscar Schmidt OEB-3 Precision style bass

This baby has had several owners here in the TB community. I got it in a trade from aproud1. It's a fantastic, unique and extremely lightweight bass, but lately it just hasn't gotten as much play time. That tends to happen when you have 10 basses

Details and specs

• Oscar Schmidt OEB-3 Precision Style bass
• Serial # 02188
• Made in 1990 in Korea (according to Oscar Schmidt customer service)
• No longer available and very hard to find (try Googling it..this may the only one you come up with.)
• Black with a maple neck & fingerboard w/ black dots
• Only weighs 7 lbs 6 ounces, possibly less.
• I believe the body to be basswood or poplar
• 34 inch scale
• 20 frets
• Ultra Lights tuners

This bass was completely gone through and this is what was done:

• Pickup and control cavity shielded with conductive paint
• DiMarzio Will Power P Bass Pickup (around $80 new) professionally installed (Billy Sheehan uses these)
• CTS 500 K Pot on vol, CTS 250 K on tone, Switchcraft jack .050 capacitor on the tone control
• The frets have been leveled, recrowned and polished.
• The nut was re-cut for better action.

I have a TKL gray faux fur lined hard case that fits it perfectly. I also installed chrome Schaller straplocks and will include a black and red Fender strap. During installation, a small piece of paint came off and I ended up repainting the top horn with black paint. I didn't need to repaint as much as I did, but let's face it, I'm not good at these things. I then steel-wooled it to smooth the bumps, and Nano-Waxed over that to get the sheen back. The result is a crude area of black paint that is only noticeable up close in certain light. It does not affect playability. There is a little space under the straplock but it is solid and secure, reinforced with wood glue and part of a wooden dowel. Other than that, bass has some nicks and dings, regular wear for a 18 year old instrument. It's a great playing bass, perfect P-tone and extremely lightweight.

Price lowered to $155 shipped (lower 48 only). The pickup alone is worth at least $75 and I figure the bass + tuners + professional work + straplocks, strap + hard case + shipping are at least $150, possibly more.
