Up for grabs is the CLEANEST, NEWEST, BIRDSEYE-MAPLIEST early Lakland you will find. I dare you to find a cleaner one. This one is time capsule...no dings, no dents, 'no nuthin' as they say in Queens. Hell, I washed my hands before each time I dared to touch the birdseye maple board on this bass.
Meticulously maintained for years by JJ in Nashville and now by me in NY. TI Jazz Flats. This thing has been pampered for 26 years.
# 93. It's got the legendary small Barts. It's got the mythical original pre. It has the evil-villain-yacht grade Birdseye maple board. Quartersawn neck with that beautiful "digital" seam. Tiny vintage fretwire. It. Has. It. All.
And the neck! You think Ibanez Soundgear necks are pencil-thin? This one feels even smaller. Super thin back to front, 1.6" nut...effortless to play. The board is a sight to see. Birdseye all throughout that looks like it was lightly torrified, but nope that's the natural wood color and pattern! Truss works beautifully. Sweet spot 9.2 lbs, the perfect balance of not killing your back but hefty tone!
The flame maple is what I call a "quilted flame" (as opposed to tighter grained fiddleback or angel's step or beeswing or other awesome patterns it comes in) It has those beautiful wavy broad strokes of figuring that are quite 3D when doing the "grain dance" motion.
The market for these vintage Laklands has gone way up over the last few years, and I really can't recall the last time one was for sale here...it's been a bit.
