Double Bass 1996 Bob Branstetter paper A0-B0

Greetings,

I am researching about double bass tone and sound production.
I read about A0-B0 mode matching, and i read some threads where Bob Branstetter explained it, but always refering to a paper he wrote.

I have tried to find this paper online, but without succes. I did contact Bob here on the forum, but it seems he isn’t active anymore.

Also, what is the general consensus on mode matching? Like almost everything DB, some people swear by it while others don’t bother.

Hi Malthe,

Bob B. retired a number of years ago. As recently as two years ago I was able to contact him, through Maestronet rather than TB. Not sure if he's still find-able that way, but you could give it a try.

Chuck Traeger's book on bass setup and repair has about 5 pages on mode matching. You might want to look for it. Me, I'm in the "don't bother" category.

Yes, it was through Chuck Treager’s book i discovered it, but him and Bob seems have slightly different ways of defining a mode matching, with Bob being much more specific.

I will try to contact him through Maestronet.

I tried every kind of search I could think of, and that link is the best that came up. I had hoped to turn up the article in its original publication, but it appears that journal has not been uploaded.
