1st 5 String

20190316_184959.jpg
I bought a 5 string a couple of months or so ago from a fellow member because I knew sooner or later I was going to need one so I bought this U.S. Masters, I think an EP5, Initially I was hesitant because of the wide fretboard heavy weight. I had it re-nutted and put some La Bella Flats on it with a .128 B, I just got it back yesterday and it is a REALLY nice, smooth neck, easy fretting neck with a great sound and it's not that much heavier than my EBMM Caprice and the best part is the neck is not as wide as I thought it was going to be. I'm going to look for one of their 4 strings. Very well made.

Nice! You don’t see many five string Ps of that vintage. Curious, it looks like the Bartolini is a four string configuration. Is the string to string balance good? You can sometimes fudge with bar magnets if the string spacing is tight enough, which it looks like it is. Good score!

Congrats on the 5-string. If you don't mind a suggestion: That B-string is good for more than just low notes. Having an E, F, F#, G etc up closer to your body is to me a great advantage, as long as you have a good-sounding B-string. I use those notes a lot, much more than I use the notes below E. Have fun! It takes a while to adjust, but nothing practice won't solve.
