1st Gen Marcus Miller V7

I heard that Marcus Miller and Sterling by Musicman are heavy basses.

The Sire M series is also MM approved and is quite a bit lighter. The P7 runs lighter by a pound or two as well. Both due to the smaller body size. It's not easy to get a lightweight good-sounding bass with a full-sized J body made with the traditional woods.

I say get, they don’t cost a lot, and they do the active Jazz thing very well. I think mine is a fine instrument that I am happy to recommend.

He does have ridiculously good tone, pretty much whatever he does. But yeah, explaining what does what for his style, that's good stuff.

I own two 1st Gen V7’s. 4-string and 5-string. Lovely basses! And I especially like the 7.25 radius. If you’re considering the 2nd Gen V7’s take note that only the Vintage ones have 7.25 radius. The ”normal” ones have the Fender standard 9.5 radius.

I've had a V7 for about two years, it's first pick for me for gigging and rehearsals.
If you have any questions about tones or want some clips let me know. I also have a Gen 2 P7 Fretless.
These basses get me really excited.

I had early sire v7 ( with marcus signature on the plate and with gigbag included) and that was seriously one of best jazz basses l ever had. And l had them...a lot! Two other v7 jazz basses l had were newer models, still very good but not as that 1st. If you are lucky, you might find a great bass. And they wasn't that heavy at all.

I had a 1st gen I never should have sold, it was 8lbs w/ vintage med jumbo frets, all the newer ones I play frankly just suck due to just feeling cheaply built, and having enormous "medium" frets.

I'm looking at a 1st gen V7, should I go with it or find a 2nd gen?
