1st post... Need help with new rig

There recently was a nice head over in the for sale section. I hesitated on it given that the seller claimed that it put out a megawatt of power and my speaker will only handle 15 watts. I hope it is still there.

Just don't turn it up past 0.6!

Not much to add except that if the stereo thing doesn't work out (and OP should try it, by all means) OP might look into an Amptweaker Bass Tight Fuzz - has a "dry low" blend knob that I find works better than a straight blend for keeping the fuzz gnarly and the lows clean and beefy. Also has a built-in effects loop. Also isn't cheap! A cheap guitar combo could also yield nice results. Explore the stereo thing, though.

I really like this "dry low" idea. Wouldn't be too hard for an experienced pedal builder such as JohnK or Azure Skies to whip up a clean blend with a low-pass filter ... maybe even 1590a-sized.

There's an idea. You could use it with your effects of choice, fuzz or otherwise. I usually play sans pedals but when I've used the BTF live I've been impressed with its presence in the mix and how well it holds down the low end when running fuzz. Moreso in that regard than the Swollen Pickle or Big Muff Pi Bass Deluxe - my two previous fuzz pedals.

EDIT: You can control the amount of dry low, but there isn't a blend knob for the effects loop, so the BTF won't replace a blend pedal there.

And I would really like a cheaper alternative than buying another Sansamp..... They don't give those suckers away!!!

Seriously, you can get them all day long for $150 or less. Okay, maybe not RIGHT now.
There's a VTRM in the classifieds right now at $225. If I didn't already have one. . .

Except for running stereo (which you didn't state if you have two pickups and two outputs from your bass) which you probably can't do anyway (and you'll definitely need two separate inputs before your amp - one from each pickup), you have everything you need to at least get you started - there's your cheapest way out.

Just for kicks though, how were you planning on stacking the cabs? That would be a really high stack. . . I'm thinking 410, 15, 15, 12. Not sure how you'd hook up the 12, but the 410 off one channel, and 2x15 off the other could work.

I am only guessing here, but if the fuzz pedal in question is very hot, might it be enough to drive one side of the BBE?

Bass -> Sansamp -> effected signal to BBE 1.
..................................... |-> unaffected signal ->fuzz-> BBE 2
D.I. from sansamp to FOH and a mic on the fuzz cab?

*If* the fuzz pedal is hot enough, is there a reason this wouldn't work?

EDIT: Sansamp has an affected out, unaffected out (through), and XLR/ D.I., right?

I honestly think that worrying about my 2 different mixes being sent to FOH is unimportant..... We are looking at very small venues, I doubt that we will even mic up my bass, or for that matter either guitar player. But that would be very important if we moved onto bigger and better things. I'm gonna start patching things together to night and see how stuff works.... Thanx for the help guys...

We are looking at very small venues, I doubt that we will even mic up my bass, or for that matter either guitar player. But that would be very important if we moved onto bigger and better things. For gigging, you want a SIMPLE setup. It could be 20 pedals - but they're all prewired and mounted on a board - just plug in 2 cables and go. The less stuff you have to mess with, the better. One volume so if you need to be louder or less loud (!) you can turn one knob.

Your massive rig of blown speaker doom would be best served at the practice space. In reality, you might consider selling everything off and getting one high power handling cab to suit your needs and be louder than the mismatch stack of broken backs. One solid amp - say a GK 800 or 1001, and one 6x10 cab (Genz Benz made a hefty 6x10 cab that can usually be had inexpensively and has nice lows, or an older Mesa cab.) That should slay your current setup.

As for mixing fuzz and bass in stereo, I'd go with a pedal that allows the lows to come through clean and only adds fuzz to mids and highs. Again, it just simplifies everything.
