There are a few replies here who say it is fine to run a tube amp at a lower impedance than the rating on the amp.would a mesa prodigy be ok at 2.7ohms and would the warranty be honoured in the event of a problem.they are expensive amps to take a chance with.cheers.
With the money involved, I would only take the word of Mesa or @agedhorse You might also state which cabs you would like to combine. As RJ stated above, the nominal rating for impedance may not be really exact. Measuring the cabs DC resistance with a meter might be helpful if they are not Mesa cabs. This would be the minimum impedance (theoretically that only comes into play at 0 Hz). Also if you overdrive the output, that may come into play. I dunno, my tube knowledge was never great and now it's been rusting away since the early 80's.
