2 knob bass wiring option (single pickup, no volume)

2 push/pull pots:

Bass (push/pull coil tap or series/parallel)
Treble (push/pull kill switch)

no volume. Has anyone tried something similar before? I might tweak the tone controls on a bass, but the volume is almost always at 10 or 0.

Active pre amp.

You could do concentric knobs for vol /treb and mid/bass, if you wanted to get all fancy.

that was another consideration, especially since I have now found push/pull stacked pots. But it was something about the simplicity that appealed to me.

THAT has simple electronics. It just makes me laugh harder who's signature bass that is and what company manufactures it

It would definitely work. But i'm pretty sure not having a variable volume control would start to get 'very' annoying, but each to their own.

I might have misread, but what bass is this for??

EDIT: Just read 'Single pickup' is it a humbucker?? if not you won't be able to S/P nor coild tap/phase.

In that case i'd go for: vol / bass+treble stacked or if you wanted 3band the above statement (Somewhere)

the next p bass I get (probably an SX) is going to get a pickguard with no holes and I'll wire the pups straight to the output. I don't think I could ever do that to any other bass, but something about a dimed p bass tone is just magical.

probably a single fat stack (coil tap) or dual coil (series/parallel) or similar.
