As the bass will require a new pick guard, I can decide about that.
As I see it I have three options here:
1. No switch
2. Producer switch (Design Lee Sklar)
3. Working switch - but what does it do?
For now I'm drawn towards the producer switch.

Not sure why they would have reversed it. Mine has them both with the Squier logo facing the same way.
When the producer in the studio asks him for a different sound from his bass, he will make sure the producer sees him physically move the switch, which has no wiring tied to it at all and does nothing. He then changes his hand position and plays and the producer is then happy.
I love it! I'm a bit obsessed with single PU basses. This looks fantastic.

Well, I had it done. Just the one pu in the "sweet spot", volume and tone and the switch does single coil / humbucker.
All I have to do is play it so it does not feel that new. I don't like playing new instruments. The sound is awesome though.

@Hnz i’m thinging 1 pickup as well - is the middle location similar in tone to the both pickups on from the original setup? Which pickup did you use - bridge or neck? Who did your pickguard?

So that red one shown previously is mine.
I flipped the bridge pickup after I wired a Freeway Switch that allows single coil options. Flipping it allowed me to choose between the outer or inner coils. I've since moved that wiring harness and pickguard to a black body and neck I grabbed cheap. I then dropped Serek B90s in the CAR.

I've been meaning to do some some sample comparisons. It's just been busy and I haven't sat down to do it.
I'll try to get them during the holidays after I complete my new board wiring.
My initial reaction has been I love the punch of the singles, a bit more thickness with a P90. I play with a lot of different drives/fuzz, so I don't want too thin of a single coil signal too start with.

Funny. I was looking at something like this for my next rascal build next year (yes another. I love these things and how they feel). I was considering a 51 p bass style PU in the centre, and then a mustang style in the neck and bridge. A strat/bass vi look with a p bass punch.
Just got one exactly like this from Ebay? but it's got "SED" stamped into the back of the headstock and part of the serial number has been scrubbed off!!
Do you think I've bought a stolen one or does SED mean second or something? I just don't seem to be able to find any information online…:-(
It's not "SED", it's "USED".
This is because it could be a remanufactured bass or, for some reason, it does not meet the quality standards for a "new" instrument on the production line so instead of being discarded it is labeled "USED"

why would they use the phrase "used" if the item hadn't even been sold yet?
More importantly do you think it would be a minor fault that would cause them to stamp it so or is it something particularly major likely? :-/
Guessing it’s a refurbed bass. Lots of them out there. Sometimes they stamp them, sometimes there’s a sticker over the serial with a new number on them. I bought mine from Franklin Guitar Works which is a refurbisher as well. No stamp on this one, but I had a Classic Vibe that was stamped. Mine needed a nut replacement, but it plays fantastic. Hope you did get a good deal on it.
