I think ZZ Sounds, American Musical and Same Day Music are all the same. Similarly, Musicians Friend, Music123 and Guitar Center are all the same company.

Didn't know that about SDM, but yeah on the Bain Capital proprietaries -- MF, Music123 and GuitarCenter.Com being the same. They don't even bother about being cagey about it any more. Only problem is that you pay sales tax with most GC stuff.

Zzounds and AMS looked to be the same outfit to me, but I hadn't had any confirmation.

BTW, MF seems to have a new deal on everything over $49 being shipped free, so it may be a good time to get that 8x10".

I had wondered if they were the same as their websites were far too similar. It's odd that they compete with each other in pricing since they are the same but I am sure thankful they do!

I don't think they compete with each other per se. They have published policies stating that they'll match anyone's published price, so they're pretty much obligated to match an ad by their sister company as well as un-related companies. If you're unaware of better prices they'll happily sell you the item at a higher price

I got the local GC to match a MF offer of 20% off including not paying sales tax. I have also had them decline to do so. It all depends who you talk to.
