I have a passive -it also has the black pearl pickguard.

I guess you do not have much experience with Sterlings. Their bodies are about 3/4 the size of a Stingray and have a slimmer neck. Most are 8.5-9.5lbs.

This is a SUB Stingray is it not ?. The ones I've tried in stores in the past have been around 12 pounds.

It is a Sterling, not a Stingray. Sterlings have smaller bodies and necks. I know it can be confusing since there are Sterling by Ernie Ball Stingrays.

Those are really great Basses. I wanted one back then, but they were only produced for a couple of years. They were way too good for the money so MM stopped making them. The only thing personally I did not like about them was the pickguard.

Yeah I had one a couple of years ago that I got in a trade with that weird pickguard and somebody had removed all the paint on the back of the neck I sold it after a while because it bothered me

You are right, I don't know what I was thinking talking about Sterlings. I guess somehow I thought about my own bass.

$460? That's an excellent deal! I have one of these and it is killer. Someone once described the S.U.B. as a Stingray dressed up in a leather jacket instead of a tuxedo and it's true.
