Which NBA team will win the 09-10 championship?

All right, coming out of the All Star break, I'm pretty sure the Lakers will win the West. The last couple of games without Kobe have shown that all their ducks are in a row.

The main question is whether the Cavs are getting out of the east this year. :hmm:

BTW, the slam dunk contest SUCKED!

I'll be the first to admit that my predictions have been off the mark so far. Although I refuse to revise them until the trade deadline. To me the biggest surprises are Oklahoma, and Charlotte. The biggest disappointments are San Antonio and Boston, who look to have gotten old REAL fast, although San Antonio has always been a second half team.Boston just doesn't look together to me, I'm wondering if coaching has something to do with it. Some coaches have a stchit that only works for a couple of seasons.

As far as my Pistons, while I'm disappointed, they haven't had the same line up for two games straight yet due to injuries. I was disappointed in the Villononuava signing and I've seen nothing to change my mind. BUT, I think getting a lottery pic out of this season could be one of the best things to happen to them. While I wouldn't have traded Billups, Joe D was right to break it up. They weren't going to win again with that line up. I still feel one of the greatest injustices of the NBA salary cap is that it punishes teams for drafting well in the second round. Had that team been allowed to keep Okur there would have been at least one more ring in Motown.

Well here's the Burk's (barring major injury) post trade deadline picks:

CONTENDERS

1) LA: Maki is right. Barring a major injury the Lakers will be wearing rings in June. The Lakers still aren't physical enough to be considered a great team, but they have less flaws then the other guys. Reason They Won't Win: Artest decides to throw a beer at Maki and chase him into the stands because Maki's hitting on his Asian GF.

2) Cleveland: I didn't even think Cleveland was the best team in the Conference at the start of the season, and Shaqs thumb may hurt them against Orlando. Picking up Jameson just gives them another weapon in their farce trade (the NBA must change the rule that allows Ilguskis to return if it is to have any credibility in the future). RTWW:Jameson is a defensive liability, and without a 100% Shaq they will not be able to contain D Howard.

3) Denver: Any team with Billups and Carmello stands a chance. Nene is the best Center in the conference and Arffalo adds a grittiness (bowen like) that they didn't have before. They are the only team that matches up physically with the Lakers. RTWW: JR Smiths and Kenyon Martins brain freezes, And the general mentality of a team that seems to take time off against weaker competition.

4) Dallas: This team improved themselves more then anyone at the deadline. Their trade reminds me a lot of Detroit picking up Wallace or LA picking up Gassol at the deadline, accept it had more impact They now have a real center who is a great complimentary player in Haywood, one of the better threes in the league in Butler, and Dampier while a lousy #1 center is a very good #2. Kidd is also a far superior playmaker to anyone LA plays at the point. And Carlylse also has a way of getting his guys to play defense. RTWW: Notwitski is a liability on D who still hasn't proven himself in the clutch, Butler isn't the best defender ether. Who will guard Kobe?

5) Orlando: I'm still not sold on Carter, but the improvements in their bench, and a healthy Jammer Nelson sure give them a chance. Any team with Superman in the middle has a shot. RTWW: Lewis and Carter are both a bit out of position defensively, and both capable of huge brain freezes in clutch situations.

Pretenders:

Celtics: Wow these guys got old fast. Even Pierce looks a step slow. Allen is no longer automatic, Wallace is shooting under 30% from the three line, and Garnett is a step slow on pick and roll rotations. Even the Bench looks old. If it wasn't for Rondo they'd have ten more losses and Nate Robertson isn't going to get them any more wins. RTWW: Father time is sitting in wheel chair on the Parkay floor

Utah: While AK47's resurrection makes them a better team, and Sloan gets them to play defense RTWW: Not enough depth, And Boozer is a bomb waiting to explode

San Antonio: Another got old fast team. I kind of expected it more with them. Duncan can no longer pop out on pick and roll coverage, They have no complimentary dirty worker for Duncan inside, and they badly miss Bowens grittiness. time to bust it up. RTWW: Can't lock anyone down on D. Either SA or Boston will have a first round exit this year.

Atlanta: The adition of Pachila really helps them inside. They are a very good young team that is a quality PG away from moving to the Contender level. They are athletic, physical and skilled. RTWW: Mike Bibby is to slow and not a threat as a shooter anymore.

Raptors: They may surprise some people in the playoffs but they remind me a lot of those Suns-Mavs teams that were built for the regular season but didn't do it in the postseason.RTWW There are to many one noters on this team (guys that excel at one thing but aren't complete players). Also when Tergalo blows an assignment on D, Howard won't be there to back him up.

The rest: Forget about it!
