When do the 2009 Fender basses get released? And when do they stop producing/shipping the 2008 models? Are there going to be any new colors to the next years basses?

Thomann (German store and saviour to millions of ripped-off Europeans) have already had orders taken for the '09 Fender guitars and basses and let it be known..Maple fingerboard option is now on the MIM models but AFAIK there is no news on colours just yet.
Appearantly they already have some 2009 models in stock.

I was talking to my friend in GC on Friday when I was buying my new '08 and he said that they would likely get their '09s around March time and from the info he had seen that there were not going to be significant changes from '08.
looks like a funky photoshop. I dont have a clue as to why they would do that.

I dunno. I'm not sure I consider anything that showcases a J body with a P pickguard trustworthy. Especially when it looks that poorly done.

Well, I never said they were good photoshoppers.
But they are an online store with an excellent service record.
They keep a lot of gear in stock all the time, I guess they pre-ordered a lot of MIM Fenders.
I must admit that I find it strange they are not listing other Fenders like Americans, Artists, or other series.
Maybe in a few days other series will pop up.
Of Thomann lists MIMs with maple necks for 2009, I do believe it.

Somebody in a music store told me they usually start getting the new ones around February.
About a month or two ago, I was talking to somebody with Fender's Customer Service. I asked him if there would be any new color options for the '09 MIA's. He said that as far as he knows, '09 will have the same colors as the '08's. Of course there's always the possibility that he was withholding information...
My '08' MIA Jazz V has a Z7 serial number meaning it's actually an '07'. There making '09' with Z8 serial numbers as we speak, it's just a continuous process with Fender.
i wish they made a sunburst with a maple fingerboard for the american standard jazz v. Is there anyway to order it that way since they make the sunburst but the maple necks only come on the black or candy cola. I was thinking about getting the black one if i couldn't but i'd want a black pickguard. Hmm, anyway they could put a black one on there from the factory?

You know, I don't see why Talkbass can't start some sort of American Jazz Bass neck-swapping program. I'd love to have a black 2008 Jazz 5 with a black pickguard, but didn't pull the trigger because this wasn't an offered option.
