2013 & 2014 Gibson EB Enthusiasts

I think of it as my "retro" 5-string, which I know is an oxymoron. The whole bass is kind of like that. I've been using it with flats. It won't replace my more "modern" active 5-strings which sustain more (and if I'm being honest, set up lower). But it has its own vibe. When I feel uninspired with the P-bass, the EB-5 neck pickup in single or series usually perks me up.

I'm not much for 5-stringers myself, but I love mine. The relatively wide string spacing is great, as I find some fivers a bit too tight. Makes it familiar when I usually play fours. And I really love the pickups in these, so it's perfect for me. If you can get it at a decent price, just jump on it. The price will probably keep going up anyway.

I owned a 2013 fiver, great sounding bass but I couldn't get along with the neck profile which was too large/wide for me. Arguably the most versatile Gibson bass ever, and this is coming from someone who owns eight Gibson basses at the moment.

I acquired mine last year. I love it. Action and string tension is fantastic. The B string feels great. I have removed the spring on the B string saddle so I could lengthen for intonation purposes. It weighs under 8 lbs, and that was before I swapped out the tuners for Gotoh Res-O-Lites, to battle neck dive. I prefer the phantom single coils. They are a bit more defined than the humbucker mode. The other minor modification I made was to swap the tone cap for a Mullard tropical fish .82
This bass sounds amazing going straight to the board. I will just add a bit of mid EQ if anything.

Wow, very nice!
I just recently bought two more Gibson basses and fell in love with the brand.
I have a new SG and a Les Paul Jr., but I’ve been looking at these as well.

Really cool, I might have to pull the trigger on one here soon!

I sure wish Gibson would introduce some new models soon!!!!!!
