Game on!

Danny Briere makes his Montreal debut tonight....a new hybrid icing rule starts tonight.....Kessel signed an eight year extension this morning......the Stanley Cup banner is raised in Chicago tonight.....some great story lines to kick off the season.

Parros left the ice on a stretcher tonight after fighting Colton Orr. Got his hands tied up in Orr's jersey as they were fighting, Orr lost balance and went down taking Parros with him. Since Parros' hands were caught in Orr's jersey, he couldn't protect his face from going right into the ice. Orr quickly signaled to the Montreal bench for the medical staff, Parros wasn't moving at first but was alert on the stretcher as they wheeled him off.

Man, I hate to hear that about Vokoun. It was always great to see him play. He was one of the first projects Korn had in his string of making unconventional goalies work for Nashville. And he was lightening quick.

I definitely wish him a speedy recovery.

Ryan Miller and Jimmy Howard on display tonight, both playing for a job on the USA Olympic team. Selanne embarks on his final season. I will be watching that game for sure.

I find it odd how the NHL season is starting out with just a few games each day, then a big blast of games on Thursday. Thursday?

I love fighting in the NHL. But we've had this discussion before. Lol. We punched our way to two cups, and left our mark in the NHL. Let's go Flyers!

Parros was bad looking but he got out of the hospital today. No fractures, but a concussion.

The thing that is ridiculous about the NHL is these kids grew up wearing cages, even Juniors and semi-pro leagues, but, the NHL is a business and they need to have their pretty faces on camera. Kind of sad, but its reality.
Folks think, "well its the NHL, they need complete visibility"
But these guys grew up wearing cages. Its just not good for business so a few faces a year get sacrificed.

I grew up playing lacrosse wearing a full cage, the pros wear a full cage, it doesn't impact your vision at all.

Cages are part of playing goalie and catcher. I'd be willing to argue that those positions in their respective sports need complete visibility the most.

I grew up wearing a helmet in football. It came with the territory.
