2013-2014 NHL Regular Season Thread

Here are some tweets from Flyers beat writer Sarah Baicker McKee about the press conference:

"It's not the three losses, says Snider, it's the way the Flyers looked in them. 'They looked lost,' he said"

"Snider and Holmgren both keep emphasizing how badly the Flyers' training camp looked."

"Holmgren references going back to last year in making the decision so early."

Wow - and they signed him to an extension not long ago that will pay him for the next couple of years. What do you figure he makes - 1 or 2 M per year?

I bet he makes more than that. Hard to know, though.

If I was a Flyers fan I'd feel really let down right now. If you don't have confidence in your coach going into the next season, fire him before camp. Don't wait until you're 3 games in then do it. I'm guessing he will still be an assistant coach for the Olympics? I'm guessing if any coaching spots open soon, he will be a top candidate.

It's not great but I can't come up with a better name. With 3 teams in the NY metro area, they were trying to avoid being too NY-centric. You could go with Megalopolis, but Pittsburgh, Carolina, and Columbus don't fit and it might be confusing because you should put Boston in the Megalopolis Division. South Megalopolis, maybe? How about something Triangle-related? Pittsburgh has the Golden Triangle and Carolina is near Research Triangle Park and the whole division lays out in a Triangle formed by Columbus, Carolina and the NY teams.

I do like the Atlantic Division - all of the teams have direct access to the Atlantic Ocean although you'll need the St. Lawrence Seaway for most of them. Although by my logic, you could throw half the teams in the Central in there as well.

Yes, I did have too much time on my hands this afternoon. :D
