Also, looks like this is the quickest an NHL head coach has ever been fired into the season.

Quickest since Fred Glover was axed after three games by the good old California Golden Seals in '71. But three coaches have been axed sooner, including the great Conn Smythe:

I think I found me a new team to keep an eye on, Edmonton.

I turned the NJ/EDM game on tonight with about 12 minutes left, and New Jersey up 3-1. I figured I'd see see how the young guys on Edmonton do against a veteran team like New Jersey. Edmonton promptly rung up three straight goals, New Jersey picked up one in the last minute to tie it, then the Oilers won in a shootout. I really like that group of guys Edmonton has, and then they added Ference who is going to be a good veteran leader on the ice and in the locker room.

The only bummer is Center Ice stopped showing the game after the overtime. Lame!

After the SC series last spring against my B's, I became a beleafer in Toronto - I predicted it then and will reiterate here - the Leafs will finish ahead of the Habs this year.

The Flyers were going nowhere fast. Preseason was a disaster and the first three games followed suit. They just didn't look like a team at all. Too many individuals out there. It was a follow up to last season. I'm really surprised Holmgren let Laviolette start this year in camp and didn't can him before the season even right after last season. Their late spurt saved him I think.

Gonna be interesting to see what Berube can bring to the table.

Oilers are an easy team to cheer for. Lots of good young talent.

Spend some time with some Oiler fans. In three minutes you'll hate that team just out of spite.

Agreed. Maybe the new coach brought a little life back into the players, but the core issues still exist. Or maybe the Flyers are underperforming for their talent level and are beating one of the worst teams in the league.

I climbed up a bit in my pool but my d-men are killing me. Muzzin and Erskine are -3.

Olli Maatta with a fantastic game last night for the Pens. Got his first NHL point when he got his first of two assists on the night. Almost got a 3rd as well! He is incredibly impressive for a 19 year old. I think my favorite look for the Pens this year has been the Crosby line out with with the 3rd D pairing of Bortuzzo and Maatta. Two young guys with great spead and great vision with a long reach and solid defensive skills. They're able to help generate a lot of offense.

Also, Jussi Jokinen got a hat trick last night against the Hurricanes. Wonder if they regret trading him His chemistry with Malkin is something unreal.

Bummer to see Tim Thomas go down Tuesday night. Hopefully that groin injury doesn't end his career. But dang, he looked bad on that goal.
