http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBASR750 I had just made another post about looking for some Ibanez SR advice and came across this. I am intrigued.
We've seen these at shows, but this is the first listing I've spotted. I wonder what the CND pickup refers to. Have to ask Carey. Ibanez, I love your basses, but join us in 2014/5 and update your website. Holy hell.
I find it ironic that I'm so close to picking up an SR500 or 1200 premium and then a PJ version pops up.
I saw this a week ago on Zzounds but now the page is gone..I wonder when these will come out..Hopefully soon..I would like to pick one of these up this year. I did find this pic on google images..Seems american music Supply took down their page also.
Here is some more info: The Ibanez SR750 in Natural Flat has a Bubinga Top with Mahogany Body. This is a great looking bass guitar. It is packed with modern features. The Ibanez SR750 has a stunning natural finish on a bubinga top. This has been combined with a Mahogany body. The body itself is extremely comfortable. Sitting or standing it fits like a glove! The neck is five piece Jatoba and Bubinga. The SR4 profile is slim and again very comfortable to play. This has been fitted with a rosewood fretboard with Abalone Oval inlays. Nordstrand CND P/J Pickups and 3 Band EQ. The Ibanez SR750 has some pretty amazing hardware. Nordstrand CND P/J pickups provide the tone. The tones are extremely versatile. This is helped with some custom electronics. This is comprised of a three band EQ. This includes an EQ bypass switch and passive tone control on the treble pot. The B300 bridge is solid and intonates very well. All the hardware on the SR750 is finished in Black Matte.
Wow that is beautiful. Im wondering wil they come out with a 5 string version of this? This may be my next purchase if so.
Yeah I've already contacted my sales rep about when he can get me one. They are going to hit the market around 1000.00.
Here's a reply I made in another thread to questions about the CND pickups: The new CND pickups are a licensed product that is made overseas for this new Ibanez bass. Carey Nordstrand Designed is what CND stands for. And it's also what I did. Here's how it went down: Ibanez approached me about this project early this year. I said I was open to the possibility under a couple conditions. 1) I must personally design, wind, and test the pickups here in my shop. 2) I will design, wind, and test the pickups using only the exact same materials that they use in the overseas factory. 3) I will only test the pickups in the actual basses that they will be installed into in production. So, Ibanez sent me magnets, fiber, and covers. We determined that we use the exact same wire as the overseas factory so I decided what gauge to use based on what we have here and what I wanted tonally. Then Ibanez sent me 3 basses, a four, a five, and a six string. So we got to winding and testing pickups. Before too long I was very happy with what I was hearing and I sent the approved designs and specs to Ibanez to begin manufacturing. What you see above is the result of this design and license process. I have to say that I am VERY excited about what these basses bring to the market with the pricing they're offering these at. The sound is VERY much a Fender inspired tone. In my testing I was able to get a killer huge P tone from the P style pickup. Deep and wide with a ton of punch. Also, the bridge pickup will do a Jaco Schwarzenegger sound for days. Then, with the flexibility of the preamp, you can get a massive modern sound that will go from slappy deep R & B to raging metal. I'm really curious to see what players think of these once they get their hands on them.
Thank you Carey for all that great info! I am looking forward to getting my hands on one of these. I've been waiting for Ibanez to make a P/J working musicians Bass for a while and its a plus that they are adding your designed pickups to the mix. Love the staggered pole pieces on these pickups like the Big Singles.
I just talked to my sales rep and they will be available in March and the price will be 899.00. I'm going to order one especially since they will have nordstrand pickups in them. I love the top of this bass.
That is a beauty! I do prefer the P style split pickup over a straight soap bar so that will go on my wish list.
Looks like these are now officially on the Ibanez website! There is also an SR 650 model with the same pickups. These look really cool.
Wow, that SR650 is just gorgeous ! Personally, I'm not fond of the "faux-neckthrough" look of the SR750.
