2020 Roscoe LG-3006 Custom Build

I haven't had any updates from Keith yet so I figured I'd post some of the other tops Keith let me choose from.

Judging by the activity on Facebook, they've been very busy!

This piece had some nice tube quilt but wasn't prominent enough so I passed.

Which brought us to some of the more peculiar and busy bubble/water type pieces.

The piece in the third and fourth shots is the one I ended up choosing. At first I couldn't tell if the first four were all just different sides of the same piece but I don't think so. Maybe from the same tree but different cuts.

You certainly had some nice pieces to chose from. That's one of the great things about a builder like Keith (who's been building and collecting wood for a long time), he always has soooooooooooo many tops to chose from!

I wish I could've visited to start the build but there was way too much going on around the holidays. I definitely want to visit some time though. I didn't know that about his wife. Very cool!

I wish there were more photo updates from Keith to help you live vicariously but it seems they're busy with the noble task of creating some of the world's best electric bass guitars.

I did have one small email exchange with Keith on the 20th. One final detail I had on the build was whether I could get the full-metal stack knobs on the concentric treble/bass pot. He said that it is now the stock offering so no more plastic bass control!

He also said that the bass is coming right along and should pop out in the next couple of weeks or less!

I replied with thanks and asked if he could take some more photos before it gets shipped out.

It's worth the trip if you get the chance.

And it is probably cool to have your spouse in a related field, they've posted on Facebook about going to different trade shows together. Not a bad deal.

That's awesome. Indeed it is! My wife and I are in somewhat similar trades. She is a comedy manager and producer and I direct event technology at music and corporate events so we get to work on some shows together from time to time which is great.

Well of course as soon as I sent out an email, Roscoe just posted updates on Facebook. And by the time I was done looking through the feed Keith had replied to me.

"I just now finished spraying the back with the red coating.
So in a couple of days it will get the final clear coats.
Almost there.
The yellow top and red back look very classic together.
Okay, I'm out of here for the weekend. Time for a beer."

Here are the photos I pulled from Facebook. I presume mine is the one on the right. Slick! The control cavity is so clean it's apparent they took extra care during staining/spraying to make the lines sharp.

And here's the front, freshly sprayed. I am assuming that this was taken on a phone and the auto-level feature was used because that looks awful red! In any case, I cannot wait to see how it comes together.
