I gotta ask though, is one of the 4 your favorite Player? If I hadn't foolishly given it to my son, I think I'd be grabbing the walnut Ric first, but you got more choices! BTW, I volunteer you for a 4005 build. No, don't thank me, least I could do.

Sure, absolutely, the 4004CTM. It has the looks, the weight, the balance, the ergonomics, the fast neck, the tones, the versatility, everything. The others are definitely fine and fun too, but the “desert island” bass is that one. So glad we did walnut back in 2018!

Actually, I really don’t care for the 4005 body shape. It looks oversized, indistinct, and, well, flabby compared to the sleek sexy 4000/1/2/3/4 Rossmeisl shape. I did consider doing a hollow version of the 4650 though...
I showed my wife a bunch of the buildoff basses last night and this was her favorite!

The lightshow is truly awesome but this thing is an art deco masterpiece in it's own right.

Stumbled on this while checking out the Winfield Vintage site, apparently they have a stock of the original Light show pattern plastic, which is pretty random considering there are something like 5 of these in existence, plus @ctmullins superb build. Might come in handy for somebody else contemplating a similar build:

Batter Up @Jon Clegg! Maybe time for a Lightshow build? BTW, a TB'er told me on the downlow that he has some of the Winfield Checker Binding he isn't using, if anybody is interested. Its disappeared on the Winfield site, so I assume that means its now Unobtanium. Shellex of Germany was still selling it about a year ago, but it's also not shown on their website anymore, so it looks like whoever makes it for Ric is the only source left, and they aren't sharing any!
There may be minor differences (I've never seen an original lightshow in person), but Rowlux Illusion film is still available new as well, you can buy it here: Large Selection of Rowlux Illusion Film Colors In Stock at ePlastics
Got my sheet of light show material; it's thinner than I expected so whenever I get around to using it, it will be under a sheet of acrylic material.
