2020 Winter Build Off - Cigar Box or Banjo? TBD

I've lurked on TB for a few years, enjoying everyone's amazing work. It's time to stick a toe in the water.
This will be my 6th guitar build and third bass. I have been toying with this idea for about a year. Somewhat inspired by upright Basses along with listening to too much roots music and Elle King playing banjo with a pinch of Bo Diddley...
I am going to build a sort of cigar box bass. I haven't fully decided on the box shape. Could be octagonal or rectangular. I want to play with box joints on the sides.
I bought a used and much abused Graph Tech Ghost bridge. Also recently picked up some soap bars and a pre-amp mixer circuit.
Wood is maple and walnut. I got a nice buy on some speckled walnut for the body sides.

Yes, the beast hanging on the wall is another project.

Octagonal would be really Cool! Short scale? Single soapbar in the neck spot? Thanks for sharing this build with us, excited to follow it!
