Just seen this the other day via Jason's site. Looks like Sadowsky Metro Basses have corrected their past shortcomings. Think I might have to try one of these, especially the PJ bass!

Thoughts?

In addition to higher quality craftsmanship all around, the new Sadowsky MetroExpress (SMX) basses have the following upgrades:
  • RSD Removed form Headstock!
  • Roasted Maple Necks are now STANDARD
  • MetroLine String Retainer
  • Easy Access Backplate
  • PJ Pickups with Single Coil Bridge - J-Pickup are as featured in the MetroLine Will Lee models!
  • JJ Pickups with Single Coil Pickups - J-Pickups are as featured in the MetroLine Will Lee models!
  • Copper Shielded Control Cavity
  • Ball End Frets - Frets have rounded ends!

I owned a 2019 PJ Metro Express that had all kinds of noise thru Jazz pickup. Also, fret work was not good. The 2023 model looks great, and sounds great.

Mine is JJ, so it was always quiet with both pickups on and it was not bad with just one on. It is fretless, so fretwork is not an issue. Mine was made in 2021.
