Any Suggestions for a 2x10 extension cab for a Peavey Combo 300 that's decent sounding and won't break the bank. The Peavey runs 300 watts at 2 ohms and 215 or so at 4 ohms so obviously i need a 4 ohm cab to get the total 300 watts. Also would consider a 4x10 cab also i may by a head later but it has to be 4ohms as well to get the 300 watts out of the peavey????

2x10 extension cab for Peavey Combo 300 Suggestions?

"getting all the watts" is meaningless, having adequet speakers is everything. If the Peavey 300 is a 210 combo, you want a matching 210 ext cab, and if that's not enough, a head with sufficient power to drive a larger cab.
Whatever you choose make sure its 4 ohms or you won't get all 300 of the watts and the signal will be imbalanced mainly going to the 15" inside the combo (path of least resistance). I would stick with a Peavey extension Cab, they are good value for money!

Peavey's Headliner series cabs are inexpensive and rated for good power handling. You can get a 2x10 for 199.99 brand new. Rated at 400 watts. 8 Ohm cab.

In general, speaker size has absolutely nothing to do with it's freq response/tonal range.
Since your combo has a 15" in it, the best pairing is another 1x15
good luck finding a 4ohm cab ... that's affordable at least.

I don't know if the cab is decent, but GK makes a 15 inch 4 ohm MBE for their MB200 micro head. Musician's Friend has the 4 ohm--it's cheaper than the 8 ohm version.
I'd recommend a Peavey 15 cab to pair with it, I had a Combo 115 and paired it with a 4ohm 2x10 cab and the Peavey combo always seemed so much louder than the cab in fact I had to check if the cab was connected. It might be because the 2x10 was at the bottom of the stack.
I have a Combo 300. If I wanted to add an extension speaker (I don't), I'd look for a cab with another BW 15. That is a pretty bright 15, IMO.
Another option: That amp has an active crossover. You could biamp, running the high frequency side to the a small guitar amp. A single 10 or 12 would do it. Crossover between 300 and 500hz, I'd think (500 is the upper limit).

I think you have some basic misunderstanding of what's going on--do you think you need a more powerful amp, to "push" a cab rated @ 500w ?
yeah i thought daisey chaining two 8 ohm cabs so that i can use them later with a better amp i did a thread on this and got some interesting feed back i may try
Yes i did.. and I have studied up in the past few day's and have learned. There is no such thing as underpowering a cab. As well as how speakers are damaged, mechanical/thermal and how that occurs. Also have to be careful to how the cab is tuned etc...
so as someone mentioned a few post up... getting a matching cab that compliments your combo is ideal since there are so many factors that go into the sound that is produced.
In short a 15" BW equiped cab will be the closest in voicing and volume ...
The problem is finding one that has a 4ohm BW in it... there are several on guitar center used right now for 100 bucks... but none have the ohm rating listed...
Ive also contemplated just getting 2 8ohm cabs... but I'm not sure I want only 150w going into the two exetnsions.
What I am considering is getting one of the peavey cabs off of GC and seeing about selling off the 8ohm speaker to get a 4ohm... next im checking to see if the only difference between the 2 are the baskets... if they use the same driver I can just get a 4ohm basket and sell th 8ohm.
i would just get a gallien krueger 15 to go with mine at 4 ohms but then i want to get a GK 700rbii or MB500 head but their 15's are only 400 watts then if i get two of those it would make them 2 ohms there is no win for me here i guess i'll just wait it out until i can afford the head and a GK 410 cab or something
Find a used 4 ohm Peavey 2 X 10 TVX. They pair up well with those and the later Combo 115 rigs. I used to have a Combo 115 with that TVX cabinet. I sold that rig to a friend years ago. I played it last Sunday. Its a nice inexpensive rig.
oh so the TVX series are 4 ohm ... going to peavey website to look up the TVX series cabs..

IF you find a 1-15 Black Widow cabinet... I have a 4 ohm that I'd be willing to trade.
OR... "trick" you can swap the basket for 4 ohm for about $80... your 8 ohm basket is easy to sell on Ebay.

There was a mated cabinet to go with your amp.. will have the same foot print as your amp.... this is the one I'd find.
