2x10 or 1x15 ?

Question/ Opinion: Playing on an outdoor (but fenced-in) deck tomorrow night, approx 100 ft x 50 ft. Which do you think will fill/ sound best: a rear-ported Mesa 2x10 or a front-ported SWR 1x15 ? Both powered by a GK 500 Fusion. A Mesa PH112 would be insufficient and a GK 410 NEO would be overkill.

^^^ +1. You'll be glad you brought the 4x10 out to play. Plus, you can always turn overkill down.

Take the 210 and the 115 or the 410. You may want the 210 and 115 and stack them to get things a little closer for you to hear yourself.

Agreed. 4x10 might barely do the trick. The last time I played a similar gig, I had my epi 4x10 + 2x10 - and I was running *full out* just to keep folks dancing. With no walls to bounce off of, low freqs just seem to vanish.

depends, if you are in the PA it doesn't really matter much. I would be inclined towards th 2x10 vetical on a milk crate . get it up higher for better monitoring. IMO, being in the PA makes for a more polished mix. If the person running the PA is thoughtful AND the band doesn't do volume wars...

This is probably too late but I'll share my experience anyway.

I've used my 2x10 cabinet on lots of small outdoor gigs, depending on how small "small" is. Most of the time I'll use the 2x10 rather than my 1x15 cabinet because I like the sound better. They are both Carvin Red Line series cabs so your mileage may vary.

This was at a backyard party. I brought them both, just in case. I'm glad I did for this occasion.

I agree with the "bring more than you need" crowd. You can always turn down if you have to (or leave the extra gear in your van).
