For me, a HPF was a bit of a misnomer. A filter, by nature, removes something. So, if it removes the low frequencies, it is a low cut filter. But for some reason it is called a high pass filter. I had to learn to live with this or it would make me nuts.

On your car: air filter, fuel filter, oil filter.

In your house: water filter, air filter

on TB Classified/ebay/CL/etc.: keyword filter

In commercial/utility radio telecom a 2.5MHZ filter filters out everything that is outside a certain minimally adjustable bandwidth centered at 2.5MHZ

All of these filter out everything but what their name suggests they’re supposed to allow to pass through. By the convention of the vast majority of filter nomenclature, the word “Pass” shouldn’t even be necessary in High Pass Filter.

Pass and Reject are used in electrical filter descriptions because both types are commonly used. For example band pass and band reject.

Deltas can prefer larger airspace
Which works against them. Since the xmax is so low

Highpass, Sub Sonic protection, Over excursion protection etc etc
all the same.

Better description would be 24 dB or 4 pole highpass.
A lot of pedal based highpass filters for effects loops are only 12 dB 2 pole filters
Which is not as effective at reducing over excursion in a reflex enclosure.
Sealed enclosures dont unload.

Its a guitar tone stack, cut the lows crank the mids

I don't disagree with the things that have been posted. They are correct.
What I said was "For ME" it means, "blah, blah, blah." I, like some others, understand thing differently. Perhaps it helped the original poster to gain another perspective.
For almost 25 years, I sometimes ate my lunch at Chick-A-Fil. Then someone told me it was Chick-Fil-A. I never noticed how it was spelled because my mind ALWAYS read it wrong and my voice said it how my mind read it. What an eye opener! Only then did so many things start to make sense.

Thing is you do understand it correctly, you've just chosen to confuse yourself by understanding correctly but naming it backwards, in your own head.
Doubling down on that is a little weird.
Good luck with...stuff.
Try to remain consistent though, no more "light bulbs" for you.
From now on call them "electronic darkness-removal globes".
