Why do folks put the strings they use when it's not in the OP's question?

I'm finding string choice to be very interesting. They make such a difference, but everyone feels differently about them.
Are 'chromes' similar to ground-wound? Or are they another thing entirely?

Chromes are D'addario flatwounds.

I actually have 3 basses right now that cover all my needs:
Ibanez AEB10
Ibanez Roadstar II fretless(with Chromes)
Ibanez ATK305

I have a fretted active/passive 5 with rounds, a passive fretless 4 with coil-splitting humbuckers/flats, and an acoustic/electric with a piezo/reds. I can cover a large and diverse territory. All three total less than $1k, too.

Should this thread be re-titled, 'So, you've got a P with flats and a J with rounds, so what's the third one to cover all bases?'

For me? I have a 2010 USA P with flats and a Jack Casady with flats. I'd like a '64 reissue J or a US Standard J.

Either a Wal mk1 fretless or a Pedulla buzz ...THE 2 best fretless' in the world
(Btw i'd rather have my jazz with flats and P with rounds )
