I've just acquired a 32 inch scale bass (strung with flats) and a 30 (actually 28!!!) inch scale bass strung with roundwounds.
The medium scale bass sounds great, and feels real easy (thanks to the smooth flatwounds) but I need to have one of each for recordings, and figured the longer scale bass deserves the roundwounds, and the 'naturally thumpier' short-scale should get the flats. The hyper-short-scale actually sounds surprisingly "normal" played thru an amp - but I have not had a chance to record with it as of yet.
Before I start spending $$$ on strings (I have a very small budget!) - would the consensus here be that am I barking up the right tree?
